Barnes Association Consultants will help make your association governance more effective and efficient.

Governance Review. This comprehensive review includes all aspects of your governance (structure, processes, and legal compliance) for all of your governance entities (Board of Directors, House of Delegates, specialty groups, state chapters, and more). A review of specific, targeted governance entities can also be conducted.

Committee Structure and Process Review. This review provides for a more effective and efficient process for member input and decision-making, including clear roles for committees and task forces and clear roles for participants (chairs, members, staff, and Board members). By giving your committees clearer direction, they will have better focus, saving them valuable time, and offering them a better volunteer experience, all while helping your Board of Directors complete its critical work.

Program for Association Committee Education. This educational session will inform and educate your Board, volunteers and staff on the best practices regarding committee structure and process. It includes content on roles and responsibilities, types of committees, the recruitment and appointment process, how to manage committee meetings, and the relationship between your Board and your organization’s committees.

Policies and Procedures Review. Consolidation and clarification of current policies and procedures makes for a well-run organization. This review includes a look at the approval processes for your association as well as a legal review to ensure appropriate compliance with bylaws and other governing documents.
